Major Findings

      -  A lot of Scholars have researched the topic of FGM, but non of them have found a right way to approach this dilemma.

      -  FGM practiced in Africa, Middle East, South Asia, South America,

and among immigrant communities in North America and Europe. Now health providers in western countries are seeing more cases of women who have been mutilated or sometimes are asked if they can perform the operation.

      - Cultural norms and values considered a barrier to end FGM. It is often the loyalty to belong to a culture that women subject themselves to such inhumane procedures, and this kind of loyalty is what most advocates are find to be a hindrance in convincing women to stop practicing FGM.

      - FGM linked to socioeconomic factors. Women are mostly dependent on men as their source of income, as a result to be mutilated guarantees them marriage.

      - Negative framing of FGM an impediment to ending the practice. Most advocates caution that the west should stop framing other cultures in a negative way, in this case it only makes it hard to get through to the people because if they are being judged, they tend to shut down all forms of communication and as a result, no head way is done.
